In conclusion, D.A.R.E. has been around for around 35 years and has heavy studying behind its benefits and negatives. D.A.R.E. is a program that costs around 1-1.3 billion dollars annually to maintain that is paid through tax money. While some studies show D.A.R.E. has a positive influence on children in decision making and drug prevention, other studies have shown the exact opposite. Study after study proves that there are many better drug prevention programs out there, but they are being overlooked to due D.A.R.E. being a popular program. D.A.R.E. needs to stop being funded as it has increased drug use and has done little to nothing to prevent drug use.
